This week Kadie chats with Matea Djokic. Matea is a PhD student at the University of California Irvine, where she is studying the gut microbiome of three silverside fish species. Throughout the episode we talk about Matea's path from a psychology degree to fisheries work in South Dakota, her master's research with pallid sturgeon, to her current position at UC Irvine. Matea also gives great advice about mentorship and talks about her new blog, Serendipitous Biologist, where you can find advice on graduate school, backpacking and other adventures.
If you would like to get in touch with Matea, you can email her at djokicm@uci.edu or check out her blog at https://serendipitousbiologist.com/.
