149 – The Role of Habitat: ‘Why Do Communities Differ between Seagrass and Macroalgae Habitats?‘ with Adam Searles
This week Hannah catches up with fellow University of Florida Ph.D. student, Adam Searles. A fourth generation Floridian from Brevard County, he decided to study marine ecology to solve the environmental issues plaguing the Indian River Lagoon system. Adam shares his dissertation research identifying the mechanisms driving community-level differences between seagrass and macroalgae-dominated habitats with major implications for fisheries ecology. So far, his work includes studies on competition between native sheepshead populations and a poleward expanding competitor and seagrass and macroalgae fish and invertebrate monitoring.
Main Point: Be kind and remember that nothing does just one thing.
